I swear I have all intentions of posting more often, but the days come and go so fast and before I know it it's been over a week since I updated. I missed my "Not me monday" this week :-( Mondays are hard because a lot of the time I've worked the weekend and am exhausted. I wish we could afford a new computer because it takes approximately 8 YEARS to upload pictures on here. So I do have a couple "NOT ME MONDAY" moments that I thought of in the last week that I wanted to share. Was I drinking a beer the other night WHILE nursing Kellen...NO, what kind of mother does that?! In my defense, I started drinking the beer about halfway through the feeding. It can't get to him in 10 minutes, right? Definately not. Justin gave me the "are you sure you can do that" look, but it's totally fine, right? Hey...my life gets a little stressful at times ok! (Did I really just admit that I did this to all my family and friends? YEP, hey that's the name of the game with "NOT ME Mondays!" Also, I'm totally not addicted to Raisin Bran cereal. I haven't had it every morning since Kellen was born. Weird right? Never ate it before, but now I can't live without it. And yes, I am still obsessive about couponing and saving money on groceries. One of my bestests, Susan, turned me on to an amazing website called thegrocerygame.com and it has really become a hobby for me to match coupons with sales, etc. You would be amazed at how much money I have saved. It's unreal. If you check out the website and decide to join, make sure you submit my email address and I will get a free month (sarah.rogers22@yahoo.com) It takes A LOT of time and planning, but there is money to be saved people! Hey, anything I can do to cut back as much as I can at work. Our newest update is that we are getting a play system in our backyard for the boys. Playsystem...doesnt that just sound cool, haha?! I'll post pictures after they put it up tomorrow. I'm really excited to be able to just go to the backyard to play rather going somewhere. Appropriate to mention this large purchase right after I'm talking about saving money, huh? Anything for my boys:-) Hey, we're just trying to help the economy with our tax return money!
We've been meeting every Friday morning with other kids around Cole's age in the neighborhood for a playdate that has been really nice, both for Cole and I. He is really shy around other kids, but is starting to open up a little. He is the youngest one, besides Kellen and another younger sibling of a 2-year-old that comes. He sits back and watches a lot of the time, but is starting to play with the other kids a little bit. I'm sure he'll warm up in time, and when he's a little older too.
My last post I said I wanted to end each post with a favorite thing. This is totally random, but I love it. You know that sound a young baby makes when they are swallowing their milk? It's kind of a swallow and sigh, and they get in this rhythm. I LOVE IT. I think it is the sweetest noise in the world. Justin thinks it's weird, but I guess you have to be a mom to know what I mean. Pictures next time.

Good nights sleep
Kellen slept from 9-7:15 last night!! Yayy!! I guess I went to bed around 11:15 or so and didnt wake up a single time until 7. I forgot what a solid (almost) 8 hours of sleep felt like; I guarantee it's been at least 7 months. I have never been a morning person, and it is so hard for me to wake up early. You'd think I would be used to it by now, but I don't think I'll ever enjoy waking up before 8! Cole, uncharacteristically, slept in until 8:30 this morning. I think all this warm weather and fun outside has worn my baby boys out! I wish the warm weather was here for good, but unfortunately we are back to the cool weather tomorrow:-( So I have to mention in this post that I really do enjoy my boys being so close together in age. I didn't think I would say that, at least not so soon, but it's true. I felt the need to express that because it is unreal the number of sympathy looks I get when I'm in public with them. I mean does having Kellen in the bjorn and carrying Cole on my hip because he wanted to be held really deserve "oh you poor thing" looks from old ladies in Target? I don't think so, haha. I think at least one person a week asks me how close in age they are, and then follows with something like "oh wow" (eyebrows raised like I'm nuts) or "you sure have your hands full" (their face really says "better you than me honey!") Really people, they are SO good, don't feel sorry for me! I can say I've never had so many doors opened for me in my life though! The lady behind me in line at Target actually helped me load my groceries onto the belt the other day. It kind of irritated me, though, because I have a system of loading heavy things first so they are loaded in the cart on the bottom, but I guess I should just appreciate the help. Or maybe she just wanted to help hurry me along...haha, that could be the case too!
So I have a few short stories of funny things Cole is doing lately. He knows that things coming out of the oven or microwave are hot and will say "hot" and start blowing. I taught him to blow on his food if it's too hot, but it makes me laugh to see him standing in the middle of the kitchen when I pull something out of the oven and he just starts blowing in my direction. He is also really into "shhh." When Kellen is sleeping I tell him "shh" that we have to be quiet since he is sleeping. He caught on right away and puts his finger right over his lips and says "shhh" every time he walks by Kellens door when he's napping. Last weekend I was sleeping in on Saturday since I had to work that night and when Justin walked in the bedroom to bring me Kellen to eat Cole came running behind him saying "shhh" and pointing to me. Good lookin' out Buddy, Mommy needs her sleep! He has really started wanted to help a lot more and do things by himself. Every night after the boys get their baths, Cole takes both his and Kellens diapers and puts them in the diaper genie and takes their clothes to the hamper. We don't even have to tell him to do it! Maybe he's going to be a neat freak like me because he sure didn't learn his cleaning up habits from his daddy! He also likes to help me put away the groceries when we get home from the store. He will take every single item from the bags and bring them to me. It takes FOREVER, but he's so proud of himself, and he says "thank you" with each item he hands to me. If you ask him if he needs a diaper change he will grab the front of his diaper, but he really cracked me up the other day when Kellen not-so-discretely pooped and Cole said "oooooohhhh" and grabbed his own diaper. It was so cute!
I decided to start a new thing at the end of all my posts. I will be leaving you with my favorite thing that happened that week, or maybe a quote or thought. This week my favorite thing is how Cole has started saying "Mommy" so crystal clear. He has always just mummbled Mama or Mum or grunted in my general direction when he wanted my attention, but now says "mommy" so sweetly and I LOVE IT! I can't get enough!!
Here are a few pictures.
Justin taught this to Cole when you ask him to show you his muscles.

Not Me! Monday
Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to http://www.mycharmingkids.net">her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
Ok Susan, I've been wanting to give this a shot for awhile now, and after tonight I think it's a great time to start.
So my really good friend Susan follows the blog of a woman who calls herself "MckMama," and each monday writes about the things that she did NOT do (insert sarcasm here :-)) during that week. She has 4 small children...I want to say all under the age of 6 or so, and has thousands of followers to her blog. She writes about anything and everything, and takes amazing photographs of her kids. So the idea is to tell the naked truth of all the little things that you would never do...but DO!
So here goes... I most certainly NEVER leave my house without at spare change of clothes for my boys. I mean, what mother of 2 babies would forget such a necessary thing? Not me! Tonight, Justin had a softball game at 7:30 that he begged for me to bring the boys to. As we pulled into the parking lot I said the words "I sure hope Kellen doesn't have a blow out (for you non-mom readers...this is a poop that is more like an explosion and usually makes its way up to about shoulder level requiring an ENTIRE outfit change) because I forgot to put a spare outfit for him in the bag after using it the other day." There was my mistake ladies. I said it. Not only did I think it, but I said it out loud, and that is grounds for a major jinxing. Justin ran up to the field with Cole while I sat in the car to feed Kellen before we headed up. Cole decided that the inside of the car was a jungle gym and was pushing every button he could find (including the lock/unlock button about 85 times in a row). The windows were up, then they were down, then up then the heat was on and off and all the while his favorite phrase "uh oh" was stated approximately the number of times the lock button was pressed. As I sat there laughing at him, I heard that rumble in Kellen's belly. Yep, you know the one. There wasn't any stopping it. Now, let me preface this by saying that my kids have always been "several a day" poopers. I have friends whose kids go several days without pooping and they think it's funny that I wonder what's wrong if my kids havent pooped by noon! Well the last couple weeks, Kellen has turned into a "every few days" pooper. (Bet some of you are regretting that you started to read this, arent you!) Last week he went 5 days without pooping! I was distraught, but he was fine. It never seemed to bother him. So this brings me to the reason I had to use his spare outfit I keep in the car. On day 5 we had a major poopy-baby-crisis in the Home Depot parking lot. Subsequently, there I was tonight with one of my children trying to climb out of the window he just put down, and the other quickly leaking through his clothes in my lap. I knew, even before I unbottoned him, that I was in trouble. Sure enough, there was absolutely no salvaging the outfit. As I started to pick up my phone to call Justin and tell him that we were going to have to go home, I remembered that although Kellen had used his spare outfit, Cole had one in the car. SO... I most certainly did NOT put my 11-week-old, who wears size 3 month clothes, in an 18-month outfit and walk right on up the the ball field to watch Daddy play ball. I wouldn't be caught dead in public with my sweet baby boy in an outfit that was rolled up 3 times on each arm and leg! How's that for my first go at Not Me Monday, Sus? I'm too tired to post pictures tonight, but hopefully I'll get some up tomorrow. We've got some good ones of the weekend spent in Holly Springs with my parents and family. But before I go, here are a few more things that I did NOT do lately (wink).
I did not let Cole have an ice cream sandwich while his dinner was 5 minutes from being done because he was driving me absolutely crazy pulling on my legs and whining. Nope, wouldn't do that...it would spoil his dinner!
I also did NOT cut my eyes at our builder when he made the mistake of saying that it "must be nice" that I only work part-time. I mean, working 24 hours a week IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT after being up ALL DAY LONG taking care of 2 boys under a year-and-a-half is a piece of cake, right? But I am much too mature and classy to let stupid comments get to me, right? I mean, his wife is a stay-at-home mom of 2 school aged girls!! Some people just dont get it.
I also do NOT have a 17-month-old who grunts and pushes to make himself fart so that he can laugh hysterically about it. My charming husband could not possibly be at fault for this for laughing every time Cole has farted in his life.
I do not allow my kids to stay in their jammies ALL DAY if we dont have anywhere to go. I'm actually pretty positive Kellen has gone without an outfit change for over 24 hours on several occasions. He has "second baby" syndrome for sure! I would never have let Cole do that. Hey, I do enough laundry already. If it doesn't have a bodily fluid on it...it's staying on until it does!
Hopefully, each Monday I can make myself confess all the things I do NOT do. It should be interesting!

waiting...
Justin:
So we've been anxiously awaiting news from a job interview Justin had on Friday. He found out today that he is one of two that they are considering...so the wait continues! We don't know all the details about the job, as far as benefits, hours, salary, etc but Justin really feels like he would enjoy the change in career. He is pretty miserable in his current situation for so many reasons. He hates that he isn't able to make enough money for me to cut back my hours at work, and isnt happy with his job title. He has always wanted a job that would allow him flexibility in hours, and allow him to be out and about and not in a store all day. This job would definately offer that. He would have much more responsibility, and would be able to utilize more of his "business knowledge." I agree that he is way too smart and largely overqualified for his current position. While I do wish I didn't have to work quite as much as I do, I am very thankful that I have a career that I am happy with and I don't have to worry about losing my job in the current economic crisis. Hopefully we'll hear some news about this job soon, we all know how impatient I am ;-).
Me:
Not much new here. I'm just enjoying every minute of my sweet boys as they grow up WAY too quickly. I guess my only complaint is that I'm still waiting for these last 8 or so pounds to come off from being pregnant with Kellen. Notice how I said waiting instead of actually doing much about it, haha. I work out when I can, and have always eaten pretty well, but I guess what they say about having a harder time losing the weight with your second child is definately true for me. I was doing great with exercising before I went back to work, but now...not so much. I shouldn't complain, but I'm just ready to be able to breathe a little easier in my pre-pregnancy jeans! I refuse to buy new clothes, so until the weight comes off, I'll continue to punish myself with pants that are too tight, haha. I'm really looking forward to this weekend and the warm weather. I'm so DONE with the cold. I think I'm going to go buy some sidewalk chalk and let Cole have his way with the driveway. He has just started wanting to "color" when he sees me writing something, so we'll see how it goes. My guess is he'll think it's really fun for about 10 minutes, then we'll be on to something else.
Cole:
My sweet cuddle-bug isnt feeling very well today. I'm not sure whether he's getting a little bit of a cold, or if it's just his tooth that has finally come through that's making him feel out of sorts. That makes a whopping 8 teeth! Maybe he'll have all his teeth by the time he goes to college, haha. Really I secretly enjoy it because it's less teeth for me to fight him to brush! This morning he played with aunt Suzi while I did laundry and paid some bills upstairs. I was supposed to work last night but was put on-call since we have been overstaffed lately. I felt a little guilty about it since I dont have much vacation time built up since I just took maternity leave, but I couldn't help agreeing to stay home and sleep the night in my bed rather than stay up for another 15 hours. Anyway, so Cole has pretty consistently been taking just one nap after lunch, but he won't sleep for more than an hour and a half to 2 hours...2.5 hours on a really good day. Today at about 10 he stopped wanting to play and wanted to be held. His signature "I'm tired" position is to pull his knees up to his tummy when you pick him up and lay his head on your shoulder. I laid him down at 10:30 and he went right to sleep for 2 hours. Now he's sitting curled up in my lap watching cartoons (I kinda love it! :-)...there is nothing else I'd rather do than snuggle with my boys!) He still really likes his puzzles and shape sorters and anything that involves the potential for busting his head open!
Kellen:
Last but certainly not least! Kellen is doing great. He is such a sweet baby, and reminds me so much of his brother. He is so laid back and continues to be such an easy baby. He loves watching Cole play and smiles at him all the time (which Cole loves!) He's been in a growth spurt the last week and has woken up a little more often at night to eat. He has been taking much better naps, and sleeps a good 2 hours in the middle of the day. His hair is starting to really have a reddish tint to it, especially in the sun. Cole's was the same way at his age, so I'm curious to see whether he will keep the strawberry blonde or if it will turn dirty blonde like Cole's has. He enjoys sitting in the baby pod (when Cole doesnt have his big butt in it!) and bats at the toy and watches it spin. I need to get a picture of it.
